Services

I offer counseling services for individuals over 18. I am licensed to practice as a LCSW in Oregon (L11550) and California (LCSW121085) and provide telehealth trauma therapy to people located in these states.

I do not accept any insurance at this time. I can provide a superbill for clients to submit to their insurance for reimbursement, however, verification of out of network benefits is the client’s responsible to verify with their insurance provider. I can also work with you to use your Health Savings Account for therapy services if you have one.

Please note, I do not work with adolescents, people who are acutely suicidal, or clients who are navigating substance use challenges or eating disorders. These challenges require specialized training and are outside my scope of practice.

Types of Therapy Offered

After your initial intake we will work together to establish clear goals for therapy based on what you are hoping to achieve and the symptoms you would like to overcome. I will use a variety of methods tailored to your unique needs. These are the approaches I am trained in and focus on most with clients:

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR):

EMDR is a form of psychotherapy designed to heal the symptoms of distress that result from traumatic experiences.

Trauma and distressing experiences are often stored in the part of our brain that processes emotion, encoding the sensations of the event in a way that leads us to experience them repeatedly, making us vulnerable to re-experiencing the trauma long after the event takes place. While this way of storing memories can cause significant distress, our brains are resilient and designed to heal.

EMDR works to “rewire” the way traumatic memories are stored, activating the brain’s natural healing processes, bringing relief and the ability to recover from the emotional wounds associated with traumatic experiences.

Internal Family Systems Therapy

All of us have a variety of internal and subconscious parts that make up our core selves. Even if you’ve never met or talked with them, your parts are there. In fact, if you’ve ever said, “there’s a part of me that feels….” you’ve received communication from your internal system of parts.

Often through the course of life we become alienated from our parts and our core selves, especially if we’ve experienced significant stress or traumatic experiences.

Parts therapy allows us to meet our parts, learn about them, address their unmet needs, and develop a strong sense of internal attachment and security with ourselves. This approach is especially useful when working to overcome the internal conflicts caused by overwhelming past events that create so much stress and confusion in our day to day lives. I am trained in IFS Level 1 and pursuing full certification in the model, a process that requires 2 years of work and significant training and mentorship.

Attachment-based therapy:

Our experiences and relationships with our parents/primary caregivers early in life shape the way we understand ourselves and others. Many of us grow up in homes where our fundamental emotional and physical needs are not met in a responsive and secure way, leading to relationship challenges and self-alienation later in life.

Attachment based therapy supports clients to understand their unmet attachment needs, understand their attachment style, and learn how to express emotions, beliefs, and behaviors that were not safe to express growing up, leading to an increased ability to form secure and healthy relationships with others.
